When you send a message to a friend, relative or colleague, you expect it to stay private in its transmission. When you provide your details to a professional provider of a service, you expect them to prevent the details from being used or made available without your knowledge. mBox respects these expectations and attempts to deliver a service that reflects them.

Your Personal Information

We use and may disclose your personal information in order to:
  • Provide services to you;
  • Research, develop, administer, protect and improve our services;
  • Instigate debt collection; and
  • Comply with legal compulsion such as a Court order.
Other than with the exceptions above we will not provide any information which you give to us to any other organisation or individual without your express permission.

As part of routine administration, we collect system status information such as login times and help desk records. These are not on-sold or disclosed to others except as required in paragraph 1.

All clients may request access to the personal details collected by us in relation to themselves and the use of the account owned by them. We wish to ensure that such details are always correct and up-to-date, and will amend any inaccuracies or changes to details on request.

By law, we must retain some client details for a minimum of 5 years. However, we do not retain clients' personal information longer than is necessary for the purposes of compliance with the law and routine administration.

Why we use your information

The information that you provide in the sign-up process, and that is generated during your use of the service, is used in a restricted set of circumstances. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • provision of the mBox service
  • notification to all or some mBox users of news
  • use in identifying and resolving problems or errors
  • generation of statistics to further improve and develop the service
  • track usage of the system by users, when required by due legal process
We typically communicate with clients by email, and send all clients a newsletter approximately once per month. In exceptional circumstances, urgent notifications may also be sent out by email.

Credit Card Policy Statment

mBox provides a convenient credit card payment process which will automatically debit your credit card for renewal after each subscription period.

We send you a notification email 7 days prior to your renewal date, advising that your subscription is due and that we will transact on your credit card. If you do not wish to renew your subscription, you may cancel at anytime, by emailing payments@mbox.com.sg requesting cancellation.

Alternatively, if you do not wish for mBox to store your card details, contact us at payments@mbox.com.sg prior to your next renewal date, to have your details removed from our system.

Your Messages

Messages are defined as voice messages, faxes, emails and SMS messages received and stored by, or transmitted through, the mBox service. Your messages are considered by mBox to be private correspondence, and as such, are protected from unauthorised access. Authorised access is defined as access by:

  • the registered user
  • an agent of the user, utilising the account name and password on the authority of the user
  • mBox staff, for problem-tracking as requested by the user
  • mBox staff, to comply with the law, or to protect the integrity of the mBox service, or to investigate a user where the Terms and Conditions have been breached.
  • Messages are otherwise not monitored, edited or disclosed.

Protection

The mBox service has been designed to prevent access by unauthorised parties while allowing maximum convenience of access by its users. To achieve this aim, the latest technology has been employed to provide the maximum level of network security, using firewall and encryption technology.

Unwanted delivery to your mBox account - "spam" mail - is barred by the mBox Terms and Conditions. In the event that your mBox account is receiving spam from another mBox user, contact us using service@mbox.com.sg.

mBox phone numbers may have previously been used by other customers as is the case with numbers offered by most telecommunications providers. mBox cannot guarantee that an mBox number will not receive information solicited by the previous subscriber. We will provide an alternate number if this occurs.

Caveats

mBox performs with "best intention" - using a publicly connectioned network such as the Internet means there is no absolute guarantee that the security of your account will not be compromised. However, mBox continually strives to provide the best service, and shall make an ongoing and sincere effort to retain and improve the level of security within the system.
